Chapter 3: Strawberry Pie

  "I wonder what's keeping them." Ed wondered aloud.
He and Al had been waiting for Celestia and Luna for about ten minutes now. They'd been given some cash so they could get a souvenir if they wanted, and something for Roy Mustang because he wanted something new for his desk. The brothers had walked around and found a book shop so they got a few novels. They weren't alchemy related at all, but seemed like good reading. They'd also gotten Mustang a paperweight in the shape of a horse carriage. Hungry from the long day and getting to impatient to wait any longer, Ed went up to the register to buy a snack. The first thing he noticed was a girl, with puffy magenta hair and pink skin wearing a pink skirt with balloons on it along with a light blue silk-looking small coat with a white strapless top that had a pink heart on it, dumping a batch of burnt somethings into the garbage. "Uh, excuse me?" he asked.
The girl looked over and gave a big grin. "Hi! I've never seen you before so you must be new! Are you going to go to Canterlot High!? I bet I can guess your age! You’re around 15 or something, am I right!? I'm supposed to ask if you wanna try our new cupcake recipe but I burnt them all anyways. But who in their right mind would want a diet cupcake!? If you’re on a diet, just don't eat cupcakes! Some people can be real crazy like that! It would be like going a whole day without thinking of an awesome party you could plan! Maybe that's just me, but everyday has something bright to it! Even bad days! The good thing about bad days is that you can go to bed at the end and wander in your imagination! But then again you can do that any time you want! Gee, I sure am talking a lot without a break. How about I just take your order?" She babbled.
Ed noticed a name tag on her that read Pinkie Pie. He looked over at the display. "Can I get one slice of that pie?" Ed asked.
Pinkie pulled out the pie. "Yum! Strawberry pie! Do you want it a la mode or with something else or just the slice?" Pinkie asked.
"Maybe a small scoop for a la mode." Ed said.
Pinkie gave a friendly grin and pulled out a tub of strawberry ice cream. She then picked up a tea spoon and placed two small scoops on the slice of pie. "Here you are! That'll be ten dollars and fifty cents!" She smiled, handing Ed the plate.
He gave her the money then returned to the table as Celestia and Luna came in. "Looks like you couldn't wait Ed. Seems you've met Pinkie Pie already. She's the most hyper student at CHS and knows everybody. She and Rarity usually hear the latest gossip amongst the teenagers." Celestia smiled.
Luna had continued up to the counter and purchased two slices of cake. A slice of red velvet and a slice of strawberry shortcake. "Here sis. You’re usual." Luna said handing Celestia the plate with the red velvet slice.
"Your pie made me want to have a strawberry dessert. How is it?" Luna asked, sitting down.
Ed popped some of the pie into his mouth. "Mmm. This is great. Even with the ice cream. Maybe it's the strawberry blocking out the milk taste." Ed replied.
He continued to eat his pie. "Block out the milk taste?" Luna whispered to Al.
"Ed's not a big fan of milk. He says it tastes like vomit. But he will eat stew." Al whispered back.
Luna then got to eating her slice of cake. Someone else came into the shop then. Ed looked up to see a girl with long blue hair covering her right eye that also went down to the ground. She also wore clothing that looked like northern wear. But the thing he noticed most was that she was almost the same size as he was. With only them and a single other character in the bakery, he causally watched her. Ed also felt she was more than just some other girl. But it was just a feeling. He continued to finish his slice of pie while glancing at her now and again. Over at the counter she was talking to Pinkie. "Hey Pinkie. I'm here to pick up my order." she said.
"Hey Dana! Here you are, four extra large strawberry pies! Are you having a party? If you are, why wasn't I invited! You know I love parties!" Pinkie exclaimed.
"No, no. Nothing like that. I've... Just got some family over. That's all. And they really wanna try some of Sugar Cube Corner's city famous sweets." Dana replied.
Ed noticed her leave carrying the four large boxes with ease. "Ed, I thought you weren't into ladies." Luna chuckled.
Ed blinked realizing just how quite the shop really was. "Wha.. I'm not! It's just I've never seen a girl with blue hair or hair that long before. Didn't you see how easy she carried those big boxes?" Ed responded, getting defensive.
Celestia smiled a playful grin and said, "Blizzard Fang, aka Dana, and her friends are an odd bunch, but Canterlot High is kind of odd itself. Now come along, we have one more thing to do before going home." They all headed out to the sisters' car and headed down the road.

  Dana walked from the bakery to the outskirts of town. She walked to a nearby mountain and stepped on a dirty red rock. The rock triggered an elevator to pop up. She stepped inside and it went up to a cave at the top of the mountain. "I'm home!" she called as she walked into the entrance and turned on the lights.
'It was nice of Giggly to wire this place up.' Dana thought as she went into the kitchen cavern.
She set the pies on the table and whistled. A young dragon came up to the table. "Hey Cotton. Where's your mom? I've got those pies she wanted." Dana said.
"She's watching the game. Her team is losing. Good luck getting her attention." Cotton replied, pointing to the living room.
"Well she wouldn't be called Canadian Dragon if she didn't take being a hockey fan so seriously." Dana giggled.
No one ever bothers to even try and find out how CD had even had a daughter. One day she'd coughed up an egg and it hatched on its own months later. Canadian Dragon did love her daughter, but Cotton usually occupied herself since her mom wasn't that bright. "Hey Dana. You weren't here so we let ourselves in. Something smells good." a girl said as she came in with another.
The first one had blue hair and sky magenta skin. Her yellow top had one short sleeve and a long one that was multiple other colours and dark purple pants along with her trusty sneakers. The other one, the younger sister, had a green head and rainbow everything else. She wore a skirt for a top, skants (pants and a skirt. Like a skort.), and clogs. "Hey Giggly. Hey Scribbly. What's new?" Dana asked.
"Luna made me go home early from the school science lab so I managed to go visit Chrysalis at the theatre. She told me to tell you she won't be home until late tonight since a cast member got caught in traffic and it’s their last rehearsal day." Giggly replied.
"Strawberry pie? Is Canadian Dragon watching another Canada vs. some Europe country game?" Scribbly asked.
Dana nodded. "Apparently Canada's loosing. If she's hungry she'll only eat three of these. Cotton, give these to your mom, okay?" Dana said, handing three pies to the little dragon, "Wanna share some of the fourth one? I'm not that hungry."
Her friends nodded. The sun was just starting to set. "Oh yeah. Something else that's new. You know our Uncle Discord right?" Giggly asked through a mouthful of strawberry filling.
"Yeah." Dana replied picking up another scoop.
"He's starting to date Principal Celestia. Feel free to spit take." Giggly announced after swallowing.
"But I don't have anything to spit take with. Besides, we did always think they'd make a cute couple since he stopped being evil crazy." Dana giggled.
They all finished their slices and set their dishes aside. "Oh yeah, I just remembered. When I went to pick up the pies, you'll never guess who I saw in the bakery." Dana smiled.
"Mr. Cranky Doodle Donkey? A werewolf? A Viking? Ooh! A werewolf Viking!? No wait!! Mr. Cranky Doodle Donkey dressed as a werewolf Viking?" Scribbly guessed her skirt top flapping as she bounced in excitement.
"Nope. Believe it or not, I saw Ed!" Dana blushed.
"Cool. That reminds me. Luna told me I had to go early because she and Celestia were enrolling a new student named Edward. Guess he'll be going to school with us." Giggly smiled.
Dana's face went light red from blushing so hard. "Ed going to CHS? The same CHS that WE go to!?" she asked.
Giggly nodded with a smirk on her face. "There is only one CHS around these parts Dana. Maybe you and Ed will get to become pals. Or maybe even best buddies! You and your anime crush hanging out every day." Scribbly giggled happily.
"Maybe if things get crazy enough, Ed will get a crush on you. But let’s hope he doesn't kiss you or you'll be in the fangirl hospital for weeks! But still, good chance of him becoming a friend of ours." Giggly added.
"Come on guys, you're making me blush so much my whole body might turn red!" Dana blushed even harder.
"Hey, we're your best friends. It's our job to talk about your anime crush with you! Anyways, see you in school tomorrow." Giggly giggled.
She and Scribbly picked up their things and said their farewells. 'Edward Elric. Going to my school. *sigh* I hope if he'd here on military assignment I'll have a chance to help.' Dana thought with a smile on her face.
The sun was still setting, but the sky was still blue aside from one or two orange clouds by the horizon. She smiled to herself and she got ready for bed, awaiting tomorrow so she could hopefully talk with Ed face to face.

  Ed watched as they drove up to the clothing store he and Al had passed earlier. "Can I stay here? There's a crazy lady in there. Rarity grabbed my coat when me and Al walked past here earlier and I don't wanna experience that again." Ed grunted.
"Now Ed, knowing Rarity she's already finished her designs for that. Come on, Luna and I need to get new rain coats." Celestia said, "And you may need one to if that automail isn't waterproof."
Ed sighed but got out of the car. The four of them entered and Rarity waved from the register, "Hello Principal Celestia and Vice-Principal Luna! Oh, Edward! You MUST see the first coat I made as a spin-off of yours!" she smiled, "We're closing soon but feel free to browse. I'll be back to show Ed my prototype."
With that Rarity went into the back room. Tia and Luna went to the coats and Ed followed. Since nothing in the store would fit his armor body, Al looked around for something to do. He noticed a girl in the sportswear section wearing dark blue khaki pants and a white t-shirt with a cloud shooting a red, yellow, and blue combo lightning bolt on it. Her skin was cyan/light blue, but the fact she had rainbow hair peaked his curiosity. "Hello there." He greeted.
She turned around and looked up at him. "Hey... Do I know you?" she asked.
"No. Me and my big brother just came here. I'm Alphonse Elric. Nice to meet you." Al replied, holding his hand out.
"Name's Rainbow Dash. Ya know, you sound too young to be that tall." she commented.
"Well I'm only 14 right now. My big brother isn't that tall for his age, but he's sensitive when people talk about it. He kinda gets to physical." Al said.
"Heh, I'm the captain of almost every sports team at Canterlot High. I only tie with TwiPrincess in football and basketball. Other than that I'm a natural dynamo." Rainbow bragged, "Except the cheerleaders. Not only would it interfere with my normal play schedule, but what kind of sport requires girls to wear skirts? If I wanna wear something smancy like that I'll just go dance or whatever. Although skorts are decent."
Al and Rainbow talked for a while as she tried on several sets of sneakers. Dash eventually decided on some blue and grey ones and got some rainbow laces for them. "Hi big brother! Did you find a raincoat?" Al asked as they came up to the check out.
"I found this simple black one. It should do. Whose you're new friend?" Ed asked.
"This is Rainbow Dash. Rainbow, this is my big brother Ed." Al introduced.
Dash and Ed shook hands. After everything was payed for, and Rarity had shown Ed the coat she made (which she had covered in sequins) they left. "See ya tomorrow Dash and Rarity!" Ed called as they got into Celestia's car.

  "This is a nice house Principal Celestia." Al complimented.
It had two floors (three if you include the basement) with a kitchen, living room, game room, study, Celestia and Luna's rooms, two guest rooms, and a few other rooms. Luna brought them to one of the guest rooms. "There are two beds in here. Hope you two sleep well. Edward, you should head to bed now. You've got a big day tomorrow." she said.
Ed nodded and went to the bathroom. Luna and Al went downstairs to see Celestia washing the dishes. "Don't mind me. Just finishing up some odd ends." Celestia said.
"Say Al, how about a quick video game before Tia finishes?" Luna asked.
"Alright. That sounds nice." Al agreed.
